A few trends which could be affecting your Immigration dreams.
Welcome to a new week and to all our new followers. It’s been an interesting fortnight with a few issues arising.
Firstly, I want to start with some very exciting news. We are now working with a recruiter who is based in Auckland and will be assisting all of our clients. This will work in a very simple way. Once you are signed up as a client and we are working with you, we will ensure that you are 80% document ready. We know that some documents take longer than others to finalize and so we always allow a buffer for the final 20%. These documents usually come in whilst you are working with the recruiter.
After you are satisfactorily document ready, we will assist you in making sure that your CV is correct. It is vital that your CV is in the right format and can easily be read by any potential employers. Unfortunately, a lot of the CV’s that we have received lately, have not been in the proper format and as a result a lot of good candidates are not able to get the job of their dreams. It is always important to remember that future employers are not enticed by photocopied CV’s that are 8 pages long, filled with pages of irrelevant information. This doesn’t bring any confidence to a potential employer about the candidate’s ability when this comes across their desk.
Our aim is to always ensure that the best version of yourself is portrayed and so we will ensure that your CV, qualifications and all required documentation is acceptable and appealing to the employers in New Zealand.
A Cover letter accompanying your CV is also essential. We will assist all our clients with this as well. It’s very important to remember that each application that you apply for, will need a specific cover letter for the role you are applying for. We often see cover letters which have the wrong dates or incorrect information, simply because candidates have just copy and pasted a letter that they have previously used. This looks very unprofessional and in some cases results in the future employer not even looking at the candidates CV.
NZ Life Immigration also provides a Support letter, to all of its clients when they are document ready, mentioning that you have worked with a Licensed Immigration Advisor, who has ensured that you are document ready and can commend your skills and experience.
Once all the above has been finalised, the recruiter will arrange a meeting with you to discuss your options and to get to know you better. They will then look through the clients they have on their books who are looking for future employees, and send your CV’s to them to see if they would like to interview you.
Working together, we can assist you in making sure that your dreams become your new reality.
Another trend that not only NZ Life Immigration but also recruiters are seeing, is that CV’s are being sent without a subject and nothing in the body of the email other than just an attached CV. This is extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately, these applications are often disregarded and not even assessed, even if they are from potentially good candidates. I’m sure many recruiters for New Zealand will do the same.
Meeting attendance has been another big issue throughout the industry. The number of candidates that have booked meetings and then just don’t show up, has been shocking. This is often after reminder emails or phone calls have been made. Immigration Advisers, Immigration Companies and Recruiters put in a fair amount of effort and planning in order to arrange meetings with potential candidates, whether from an immigration point of view or employment stance. When potential clients do not arrive for these meetings, this is very frustrating.
This is again, unprofessional, and very annoying for professionals, who have taken the time and effort to look into profiles and do the required research, only for nobody to arrive for the scheduled meeting.
Some candidates who do arrive, arrive over 15 minutes late. This is not the type of candidate that any professional organisation will want to work with or employ. From an LIA standpoint, if you cannot attend an Immigration meeting on time, what are the chances that you will attend an interview with an employer on time?
This results in us questioning if you are in fact serious enough about moving to “The land of the Long White Cloud” and if not, why you are booking meetings or arranging interviews?
There are certainly instances where there is an emergency or something does come up where you simply can’t meet, but the simple and courteous thing to do is let us know timeously.
At NZ Life Immigration, we have decided to take the stance that if you do not arrive, we will not arrange another meeting, if you have not let us know. This stance has been adopted since the candidates receive Google Calendar notifications, email reminders about the meeting and even phone calls on the day of the meeting. Not attending a meeting without any email is unprofessional and very impolite.
So that’s all from our side. We hope that people will understand our point of view and that hopefully soon, we will see this trend disappearing and becoming a thing of the past.
Please remember that our recruiter is looking for certain profiles of candidates which we are posting about on social media. Follow us, so that you do not miss out on any opportunities and remember, what you do now will determine our future.
